SUMMARY:Bill McKibben - Climate Protection Campaign Speaker
DESCRIPTION:<p class=\\"rteleft\\"><img align=\\"left\\" src=\\"http\://www.billmckibben.com/images/bill_mckibben.jpg\\" style=\\"padding-right\: 15px\;\\" alt=\\"\\" />Renowned American environmentalist and writer Bill McKibben will tell about the first global-scale climate change movement\, the 350.org campaign\, as well as the significance of the number 350 and the upcoming International Day of Climate Action on October 24th. This event is hosted by Sonoma Country Day School in partnership with the Climate Protection Campaign\, Post Carbon Institute\, Sierra Club Sonoma County\, Peace and Justice Center of Sonoma County\, and the Network for Spiritual Progressives of Sonoma County. A reception and book signing will follow the presentation. McKibben says that &quot\;350 is the most important number in the world&quot\; - the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide measured in &quot\;parts per million&quot\; in our atmosphere. &quot\;If we can make this number known across the planet\, that mere fact will exert some real pressure on negotiators. We need people to understand that 350 marks either success or failure for these climate negotiations.&quot\; With carbon dioxide levels already exceeding 350 parts per million\, Bill McKibben\, the Paul Revere of our time\, is traveling the world to awaken people to the dire threat of global warming. In this special appearance\, he'll explain how Sonoma County can join thousands of others to send its own unique message through a countywide day of climate actions on October 24. &quot\;Our hope is for a powerful and unified call to action- a call that is global\, scientific\, and specific.&quot\;

Grandchildren visit often. The common house has a multi-purpose room\, kitchen\, lounge\, kids room\, laundry room\, bathroom.

The Two Acre Wood community has a fully stocked and functioning common house to extend their personal living space and interact with the community.&nbsp\; There is also gorgeous landscaping\, vegetable gardens\, and more. SUMMARY:Training For Transition in Monterey
DESCRIPTION:
<span style=\\"color\: rgb(255\, 0\, 0)\;\\">Please note that this training will run on Friday\, October 23rd and Sunday\, October 25th with a special free\, open-to-the-public Energy Descent Planning Session Oct. 23rd\, 6 to 9pm.

Saturday\, the 24th will NOT be a training day as there are climate action activities underway (<a href=\\"#350\\">see below).

Building Resilient Communities for a Post-Carbon World

The Transition movement is a set of inspiring ideas for creating an attractive and enticing vision of how our communities could be. The converging crises of climate change and oil depletion and economic instability cannot be solved separately\, and they cannot be solved with technological miracles\, but only by lessening our dependence on fossil fuels. This doesn&rsquo\;t mean a bleaker future. The heart of transition is the belief that if we engage with enough imagination and ingenuity to unlock the collective genius of our communities\, we can choose a future that is more satisfying\, just and sustainable than what we have now.
&nbsp\;
Participants in the training will\:

explore the opportunities for personal and social transformation presented by the challenges of peak oil\, climate change and economic instability

learn the key concepts of the Transition model\, including how to set up and foster successful Transition groups.\, Permaculture principles and community visioning

understand how to raise awareness of the need for transition through public talks and events

form contacts with other change leaders in your local area

establish a plan of action for yourself and your community

We will be gathering again (yay!) to further the agenda of Transition Sebastopol Heart and Soul group--namely to facilitate and generate ways to support each other in our inner journeys as we travel these times of change.

We were inspired to see so many wonderful souls gather at our initial meeting and we would now like to continue the conversation started. In this next meeting\, we will deepen the connections and discussions
around what it can look like to really show up for each other in this way.

<div style=\\"margin\: 0px\; text-align\: center\;\\">
This gathering will be simple and sweet\, no frills. Just time together getting to the heart of what we want to see blossom and nourish our deeper selves. The gathering will be structured to facilitate this.

We will be asking the questions of what each of us is seeking and what each of us has to offer in relation to the care and feeding of our hearts and our souls.

There will be an opportunity for you to ask for support and There will be an opportunity to offer your resources as well.

We will be spending a good part of the time really sharing and connecting with each other deeply\, in smaller &ldquo\;heart-circle&rdquo\; groups.

You will also have the option to have these needs/resources added to a list that we will be creating to distribute to the larger community.

Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the space. We would appreciate rsvp's to get a sense of the head count\, (but last minute decisions to come are ok)
