Start: Dec 4 2010 10:00 am
Join us for a FREE 2-hour introduction to the new Model of Transition for Sustainable Living (MTSL) program. Location: About the Model of Transition for Sustainable Living (MTSL) programThe Model of Transition for Sustainable Living (MTSL) program consists of twelve modules—one of which will be covered each month, from December 2010 through November, 2011. Together they will provide an overall perspective on current thinking and technology, as well as practical skills for everyday sustainable living. The MTSL program includes a Workbook/Planner, a Reader, a Resource Directory, a Journal, and a series of Visual Aides. The program has been designed to work in concert with local participating businesses and organizations. The mission of the program is to empower you to act; to transition you from wherever you are today, to a lifestyle that is highly sustainable, within the one-year time period of the course. Therefore, the program consists of 20% theory and 80% practical application.
Regular classes will begin on January 8 and 9. Through 2011, classes will be held the second weekend of every month (except December). Thursday December 16, 2010

A Wisdom Council Discussion Group of Transition Sebastopol
Calling All Elders, Earth Elders, Wannabe Elders, Soon-to-become Elders, or Interested Baby Boomers on up! The Elder Salon is a nonhierarchical circle of peers. We’ll introduce the discussion with some thoughts from an elder voice or thought-provoking instigator to kick off our own discovery of what it is WE think and believe about the topic; what WE want and need now and in our future; what WE think should be the course of action and attitudes as we progress into and through our older years WHY: There are a lot of new ideas about aging, staying youthful in body and spirit, and our role in society and local life. What have our generational contributions been and what is left undone? What are our mistakes and triumphs? If we don’t want others to determine what becomes of us in very old age, we need to be proactive and begin making conscious, thoughtful choices about our future, how we want to live and be regarded. What role do elders want to play in the coming changes; what wisdom can we offer? Reminder to all: the Elders Salon is regular and ongoing. When: During November & December, we will be meeting the THIRD Thursday of the month (to avoid conflict with the holidays). ...that wasn't a typo--we are going Christmas Stopping. A covert operation! Think Rev. Billy gone Buddhist. Join us in our crazy scheme to go meditating in the middle of the mall, in the midst of Christmas shopping. We are part of Transition Sebastopol and the Heart and Soul group.
Location and time: Sit in inner peace while people flurry about in their consumer craze. Be a beacon of true joy and a reminder that they too can stop and go within, even if just for a moment!

*New Meeting Location* On this longest night of the year, we embrace both the dark and celebrate the return of the light. This evening's event will guide us in the deeper meaning of the season by honoring that which is both dark and light within ourselves and in the world today. We will offer a space where we can reflect, cry, laugh, sing and join in ecstatic dance. Then we will have a gift circle where we will share our offerings and ask for what we need. Bring a yummy treat, drinks, or finger food for the refreshments afterwards If you would like to participate in the gift exchange, bring a precious item from your home that you love but can now let go of. Please bring it wrapped! 7:00 PM -- 9:30 PM Location:
