Schedule: 9:00- 11:00: Seed Exchange: Free seeds to share. (Seeds and resources are available the whole time.) 11:00 - 12 noon: Learn How to Clean and Process Seeds You are invited to get FREE SEED from the 200+ varieties ofvegetables, flowers, herbs, and grains in our Seed Library. All seeds were grown out in our Seed Garden or in other parts of Sonoma County. We hope you will grow some of this stock out to seed and return it to us next year. If you are already a seed saver, please consider donating some of your seeds to us. Come by and check out our seeds or stay for the whole time!. All classes and seeds are free to the community! Did you want to: Skills for Building Effective Groups and Teams don’t always come naturally. We need to learn, practice and build teams around effective processes, clear agreements, and thoughtful communications. What makes effective groups tick? What is it like to be in a well-functioning group? Can that truly be a joy? Nick Osborne, has been involved with the Transition Towns Movement since it began in England in 2007. He has been a leading trainer for the Transition Network and has been offering a set of training courses around building effective groups, teams and collaborations. Nick’s courses come from integrating 20 years experience of working with leadership models in social change projects, intentional communities and Eco-villages, and conventional and cutting edge organizations. During this evening Nick will cover the essentials of good group dynamics, provide a variety of tools and resources and will give a taste of an upcoming 2-day course for those who want to take a deeper dive and gain more proficiency in facilitating skillful group process. Effective Groups is a dynamic and engaging training course which covers key skills for collaboration. It will help you: · Create systems for teams to work effectively together · Develop an enjoyable and fair atmosphere to work within · Make order in the chaos to find freedom within a structure · Utilize diverse perspectives as an advantage instead of a problem · Balance achieving goals with keeping your team healthy and effective · Manage conflicting needs and paradoxes, both within and outside the team · Develop the skills & mindset to cross stony ground without falling out (or over) with each other!
About the facilitator: Nick Osborne, a leading trainer from the UK with the Transition Network, will be in the U.S. to give his 2-day Effective Groups weekend workshop, plus his 1-day Train the Trainer training, in 3 locations. The Effective Groups (aka Effective Collaboration) weekend workshop is Nick's labor of love for Transition Initiatives - helping community-based Transition Initiatives develop stronger group skills. It comes from integrating 20 years experience of working with leadership models in social change projects, intentional communities and Eco-villages, and conventional and cutting edge organizations. In this TTT course we want people who:
Becoming a trainer for the Effective Groups course The TTT is a 1-day training for 10 participants or less. The course is designed to meet the needs of the participating individuals so they can more confidently convey the materials. It will dive more deeply into the 2-day course materials and their methods of delivery. Those interested in the 2-day Train the Trainer course will need to already have experience in training, teaching or facilitation as well as having hands-on experience dealing with group dynamics.
