On Monday, June 6th, starting at 9 AM, there will be an all Transition work party at St. Stephens. Our goal will be to finish the improvements for the classroom that we use there. This will include:

· Finishing the painting in the two parts of the room
· Removing furniture and installing baseboards all around
· Fixing the floor transition between the two halves of the room
· Taking the berber area carpet out of the classroom, steam cleaning it, and returning it to the room
· Restoring functioning of the sink drainage

These projects can use a number of workers to get it all done, and so we are asking for help from each of the working groups.

Please let Angel Rodriguez (wegreenyou@yahoo.com) or Jerry Allen (jerry@sebfolk.net) know that you are planning to attend.

Thank you everyone!

 GENERAL COURSE INFO:

The Model of Transition for Sustainable Living (MTSL) program consists of twelve modules—one of which will be covered each month in 2011.  Together they will provide an overall perspective on current thinking and technology, as well as practical skills for everyday sustainable living.  The MTSL program includes a Workbook/Planner, a Reader, a Resource Directory, a Journal, and a series of Visual Aides.

The program has been designed to work in concert with local participating businesses and organizations.  The mission of the program is to empower you to act; to transition you from wherever you are today, to a lifestyle that is highly sustainable, within the one-year time period of the course.  Therefore, the program consists of 20% theory and 80% practical application.

The course, if completed, will:

·          dramatically lower your carbon emissions

What makes you come alive? What makes your soul sing? Come share it with us outdoors under the luscious full moon and before the warmth of the community fire. Poetry, music, song, dance and performance art of all types is welcome-- from your heart to share with ours!

At HeartSing, we nourish and rejuvenate our heart and soul in an atmosphere of singing, sharing, poetry, silence and connection with nature. We will sing songs from many traditions, and bask in the joy of being together in a sacred space.

In these times of uncertainty and transition, we need places where we practice being present with each other and nurture that part of us that may have been neglected in this head strong world. This event is facilitated specifically as a way we come together with our hearts to stabilize and grow our love in these times of greater concerns.

Bring your instruments, songs, poems and heartfelt expressions as you feel inspired, or just come and follow along--singing not necessary!

This event is hosted by Julia Bystrova and Jeffrey Jon Whitebear

Socializing will be before and after the event.

Bring snacks or drinks to share,
firewood for the fire
cushions/blankets to sit on

see you there!

A Wisdom Council Discussion Group of Transition Sebastopol

Calling All Elders, Earth Elders, Wannabe Elders, Soon-to-become Elders, or Interested Baby Boomers on up!

The Elder Salon is a nonhierarchical circle of peers. We’ll introduce the discussion with some thoughts from an elder voice or thought-provoking instigator to kick off our own discovery of what it is WE think and believe about the topic; what WE want and need now and in our future; what WE think should be the course of action and attitudes as we progress into and through our older years

WHY: There are a lot of new ideas about aging, staying youthful in body and spirit, and our role in society and local life. What have our generational contributions been and what is left undone? What are our mistakes and triumphs?

We are living in a time of unprecedented change. These changes can impact us in many ways, affecting our relationships, work, financial stability, home, and our physical and mental health. To adapt and thrive, we need to radically elevate how we live our potential through mindful daily choices. In this workshop you will learn new tools and practices that help you stay clear, organized and at peace as you take action on what matters most in your life and community. Amidst guided meditation and movement exercises, we will discuss ways to keep and reclaim our center amidst the significant shifts occurring. We’ll develop a personal purpose statement and learn leadership practices and empowering tools that help you access inner power, aligned with your values and beliefs. In this way, you can hone your inner compass to navigate change while building personal resilience and staying inspired and in action towards living your vision.
