Our everyday acts of giving and receiving are the foundations of our communities, and our economy.

Our moment-to-moment choices can either support our sense of connection to each other and our beautiful Planet Earth, or pollute our social and natural environments, and create alienated lifestyles that don't work for anyone.

How we think, speak and act is how we create a more abundant and mutually beneficial world for each other and ourselves...it is the daily 'commerce' of our hearts.

Come for a facilitated dialogue about our relationships, communication styles, and avant-garde, heart-centered forms of mutual exchange. We are putting love to work, sleeves rolled up and feet on the ground!

Facilitators:
Alpha Lo is a social architect who designs non hierarchical and gift economy systems. He co authored/edited the Open Collaboration Encyclopedia and helped found the Gift Circle Network that has virally replicated around the world. He writes the Open Collaboration blog.

Judith Katz is the co-founder of the Connection Action Project www.Facebook.com/ConnectionAction which offers mediations and trainings, produces events, and disseminates publications relating to the intersection of spirituality, social action and empathic communication (NVC).

Julia Bystrova has been an active member of Transition Sebastopol, is a local holistic practitioner, minister and philosopher/activist.

DATE CHANGE! LOCATION CHANGE!

Due to the exciting opportunity to have the film makers join us in March, we have changed the date for our March Movie Night to March 19th!

Location: The Sebastopol Grange Hall, 6000 Sebastopol Road (Hwy. 12 just east of the Chevron Station), Sebastopol

Please join us for the screening of YERT, a fun and uplifting film about climate change and the environmental movement in the US. Joining us for the conversation following will be one of the film makers, Mark Dixon to tell us in person what it was like to make this informative and uplifting film.

"YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip): 50 States. 1 Year. Zero Garbage? Called to action by a planet in peril, three friends hit the road - traveling with hope, humor, and all of their garbage - to explore every state in America (the good, the bad...and the weird) in search of the extraordinary innovators and citizens who are tackling humanity's greatest environmental crises. As the YERT team layers outlandish eco-challenges onto their year-long quest, an unexpected turn of events pushes them to the brink in this award-winning docu-comedy. Featuring Bill McKibben, Wes Jackson, Will Allen, Janine Benyus, Joel Salatin, David Orr, and others."

Stay with us for our fun and lively discussion following the movie. Joining us will be some of our local enviro superstars to tell us about the good work that they do for our community and planet. Stay tuned for updates :)

A Wisdom Council Discussion Group of Transition Sebastopol

Calling All Elders, Earth Elders, Wannabe Elders, Soon-to-become Elders, or Interested Baby Boomers on up!

The Elder Salon is a nonhierarchical circle of peers. We’ll introduce the discussion with some thoughts from an elder voice or thought-provoking instigator to kick off our own discovery of what it is WE think and believe about the topic; what WE want and need now and in our future; what WE think should be the course of action and attitudes as we progress into and through our older years

WHY: There are a lot of new ideas about aging, staying youthful in body and spirit, and our role in society and local life. What have our generational contributions been and what is left undone? What are our mistakes and triumphs?

We are pleased to announce the follow up to our "Love in Action" event, which is a new and exciting group for creating our alternative economy and real ongoing mutual support for us in building resilience.

Though we are focusing on the simple gift circle to begin with, the idea is to allow the gift circle idea to include ways of creating a "Resilience Network". This means that this regular meeting will be a place where we can offer what skills we have to share, what we are doing to make ourselves more healthy and happy, emergency preparedness support, gardening and food help, energy sourcing, music and art sharing, and heck, who knows, maybe even barn raising!  This group will be what you make it.

We are beginning the group this next Monday, March 26th. We plan to do this on a regular basis and invite folks to step in to facilitate as well.

There is a new google group list for this, where you can post needs and wants between gatherings as well.
You can sign up at:  http://groups.google.com/group/resilientliving

or for more info you can send an email to:  resilientliving@googlegroups.com

At the circle we will introduce the basic format and guidelines and then dive in! This will be a fully participatory evening, so consider what you might want to give and receive. We will also be basing future dates and frequency of our meeting on the desire of the group, but every other monday looks like a good place to start.

This room does cost us to rent, so we will be soliciting a nominal fee based on what feels right to you.

Your Intiating Hosts:

Julia Bystrova
Mary O'Conner

Please join Transition Sebastopol for the screening of Renewal hosted by Heart and Soul at the French Garden Restaurant, March 28th at 7 pm.

"RENEWAL is the first feature-length documentary film to capture the vitality and diversity of today's religious-environmental activists. From within their Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Muslim traditions, Americans are becoming caretakers of the Earth. With great courage, these women, men and children are re-examining what it means to be human and how we live on this planet. Their stories of combating global warming and the devastation of mountaintop removal, of promoting food security, environmental justice, recycling, land preservation, and of teaching love and respect for life on Earth are the heart of RENEWAL."

"The religious environmental movement is potentially key to dealing with the greatest problem humans have ever faced, and it has never been captured with more breadth and force than in RENEWAL. I hope this movie is screened in church basements and synagogue social halls across the country, and that it moves many more people of faith off the fence and into action".—Bill McKibben

Please stay with us for the conversation following the film. We will have representatives from different local faith-based communities telling us about the good work they are doing for our planet. Our conversations are fun and lively, and this one should should be great!
